I was watching the Blazers play New Orleans last night… (sad ending, lost by 1) and Mike and Mike the announcers mentioned something about the Rose Garden and their efforts to go green. They went on to say that they won an award for it. I immediately tried to find out about this award. Turns out that the Rose Garden is the first Athletic center to become LEED certified, at the gold standard even. That’s pretty encouraging news.
Here’s the link to the article if you would like to read about it.
It’s pretty sick that the Blazers aren’t only turning their image around from the Jail Blazers… but they are now trying to better ourenvironment. This is very great news because people need role models like these to start making a difference.

It is nice to know that portland is keeping its reputation for sustainability, especially when it comes to sports and music arenas. It was a very interesting article and i’m glad to know that when they built it they were thinking about the future rather than the short term gain.
