UK’s plan to boost food production and reduce their impact on the environment!

The UK’s government has a 20 year plan that will make land available for people to grow their own food and to make healthier meal choices available to the general public.  The government wants to also cut down on food waste by buying foods in season.   This plan should reduce their impact on the environment.  While the Uk “encourages people to buy sustainably-farmed food” , the average family in the Uk spends around or under 11% of their income on food although low-income families still spend 15-16% of their income on food, but 20 years ago  families spended about 20% of their income on food.

It is interesting that the cost of food takes up about 11% of the average families income versus 20% 20 years ago, but I wonder if there is a decieving factor behind this data. Maybe the average person makes more money now than they did 20 years ago?
